Test your agent
Call or chat with your agent privately before customers can reach it.
Test Mode is a private channel just for you. Conversations in Test Mode never reach your customers, so you can try things out as often as you like.
Start a test
Open your agent
Go to Agents and select the agent you want to test.
Call or chat
In the Try it as you edit panel, select:
- Call to speak to your agent through your browser. Allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Chat to type messages to it.
On smaller screens, the Call and Chat buttons are in the bar at the bottom of the editor.
Improve and test again
If an answer isn't right, change the agent's instructions or knowledge, select Save agent, and start a new test.
If you can't start a test
The test panel tells you what's missing:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Enable Test Mode in Channels before testing. | Open the Channels tab and turn on Test Mode. |
| Select and save an AI model before testing this agent. | Open the Voice & Models (or Model) tab, choose a model, and select Save agent. |
Only see Chat and no Call button? Test Mode is set up for chat only. In the Channels tab, open the settings for Test Mode and choose Chat & voice under Test capabilities.
What to try
Try the conversations your customers will actually have:
- The questions you're asked most often.
- Something the agent shouldn't help with, to check it stays on topic.
- A question that needs your knowledge, such as opening hours or prices.
- On voice calls: interrupt the agent, speak quickly, or pause, to see how it reacts.
Test conversations are free
Test Mode conversations don't count towards your bill.
